Why Bring Your Own Photographer Instead of Hiring Locally?

This is the first question many NRI couples ask. The honest answer is that it depends on the destination — but for Indian weddings abroad, there are strong reasons to bring a photographer from India:

• Understanding of your rituals. A Tamil photographer who has photographed hundreds of Tamil weddings will anticipate the muhurtham, the thaali tying, the kanyadaan — without needing to be briefed on them. A local photographer in Singapore may not know these moments exist.
• Visual consistency. You want your wedding photography to look and feel cohesive. A photographer you've met, whose work you know, whose style you love — that's infinitely more reliable than hiring someone you've only seen online.
• Relationship. You'll spend 12+ hours with your photographer on your wedding day. Knowing and trusting them already changes everything about how relaxed you are.

How Destination Wedding Travel is Handled

At Thulir Weddings, destination travel is handled transparently. Travel and accommodation costs (flights, hotel, ground transport) are quoted separately from photography fees. We always share a detailed quote in advance, so there are no surprises.

We have photographed weddings in Singapore, Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai and multiple Indian destinations including Goa, Munnar, Udaipur and Andaman. Each destination has its own logistical requirements — and we plan for all of them well in advance.

Planning Across Time Zones

For NRI couples planning from abroad, all our planning meetings happen via video call. We've found that 2–3 structured planning calls over the 6 months before the wedding is the ideal approach — covering timeline, locations, rituals, family dynamics, and final logistics.

We're highly responsive on WhatsApp (+91 87784 16248) and email, and we understand that coordinating from abroad adds complexity. Our goal is to make the process feel easy from wherever you are in the world.

Documentation and Visas

For international destinations, we handle our own visa arrangements. All we need is an invitation letter from your venue and a timely advance payment to begin the booking. We've done this enough times that the process is straightforward.
